Chicago mayor seeks UN pressure to end ICE operations

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has called on the United Nations human rights agency to investigate allegations of human rights abuses in the country.

In a video message on Friday, he strongly condemned the ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) crackdown on immigrants in the country and the deployment of the National Guard in various locations, and urged the United Nations to pressure the Trump administration to stop the move.

The Chicago mayor has called for similar action in the United States in response to allegations of human rights abuses, as is the case in other countries around the world.

Meanwhile, mothers of children in Broadview, Illinois, have protested the arrest of a daycare center worker. Several others were arrested at the time.

They have called ICE’s ongoing crackdown on immigrants an act of terrorism.
