The price of weight loss drugs is falling in America

President Donald Trump has struck a deal with drug companies to lower the price of weight-loss drugs.

Eyewitness News reported that on Thursday, the Trump administration announced agreements with drugmakers Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly.

Senior administration officials said that under the agreement, a program called TrumpRx will soon be launched to provide affordable drugs.

Through this program, overweight people will be able to buy drugs at low prices. Two companies contracted with the government will provide them with affordable drugs.

Through this program, injections needed for weight loss can be purchased for $350 per month.

According to the agreement, the price of weight-loss drugs for the underprivileged will be reduced to $250 over the next two years. At the same time, people suffering from high levels of obesity will be included in Medicare services.

The Trump administration announced that those whose body mass index (BMI) is more than 35 will be eligible for Medicare benefits. As a result, obese patients will be able to get essential medical services for just $50.

“Novo Nordisk has always been committed to providing affordable medicine to Americans,” Novo Nordisk’s CEO said in a statement.

With today’s announcement, drugs for type 2 diabetes and obesity will also be included on the affordable list.
